What is AmeriCamp?

AmeriCamp is an award-winning organisation that has been sending people to work at Summer Camps in the USA since 2010! We were founded on our shared dream to help people have the Summer of a lifetime at Camp and the goal to provide each of our applicants with the best possible salary and customer experience!

AmeriCamp provides the chance to work at one of our summer camps in the USA for 8-12 weeks this summer, all meals, accommodation and health insurance are included with your program fees plus salary. Fantastic experience for your CV if you’re going into sports-based roles/teaching in the UK. We work with a variety of different camp types from YMCA’s, to specialist, religious, special needs, adventure, private, scout, co-ed, traditional, underprivileged and single gender.

Job Description:

You will work as a swim teacher at one of our incredible summer camps in the USA. You will be responsible for the safety of children aged 6-17 during waterfront sessions and teach a variety of different swimming levels throughout the summer across an 8-hour activity period with time off. All meals and accommodation are included for the duration of your work placement.

Working at the waterfront may include a Red Cross Lifeguarding course that will be provided by your camp employer. You would also be responsible for joining the rest of the waterfront staff on safety drills, training, and generally contributing to a strong team. Being on the waterfront team also offers a huge variety of roles and activities alongside instructing wake sports.

Skills & Experience Required:

Candidates should be of a sufficient level to pass the ARC swim test including the following: This includes a 300-yard swim using front crawl or breaststroke, a 2-minute tread using legs only and the ability to retrieve a 10-lb dive weight from 7 ft deep, surface and swim 20 yds with the weight, using legs only and exit the pool without using a ladder within 100 seconds.

Swim coaching qualification/certificate is not essential you can be trained at camp however any UK certification is a bonus for some camps. Individuals should be confident swimmers overall.

Additional Information:

AmeriCamp is a visa sponsor and recruiter, we can guarantee a minimum salary of $2,000/£1,577 for the summer. All meals and accommodation are included for the duration of your work placement. This role requires a J1-camp counsellor visa which we as an organisation assist you in getting. With this, you will also have 30 days post-placement to travel the US as a tourist. You will be required to complete an enhanced DBS through our organisation in line with health & safety requirements.
