Sport is an ever-growing industry, full of career opportunities and exciting roles.

Behind every sport and sporting event is an entire support industry comprising professions as diverse as coaches, journalists, photographers, physiotherapists, match officials, nutritionists, therapists, marketers and administrators.

Careers in Sport events provide students with the opportunity to see first-hand the diverse roles and responsibilities working within a professional sports club.

Events are hosted at professional sports clubs and act as a case study for highlighting the professions working in;

Sports Business | Sports Coaching | Sports Media | Sports Science

The Careers in Sport one day workshops allow students (aged 14 to 19 years old) to see how a professional club operates and how the various departments work together to achieve success both on and off the pitch. Students also have the opportunity to participate in interactive activities and see first-hand the roles and responsibilities in running a sports club.

WORKSHOPS

Sports Business workshop

The sports business industry is fast-paced and evolving. Whether you have an idea, product or service that enables you to work for yourself or whether you’re interested in the commercial side of sport, there are so many entry points whatever your ambition may be.

In this 1-hour workshop students gain an overview of the commercial department of the professional sports club the event is hosted at.  They hear about club strategies for fan engagement, product launches, ticketing, marketing and the procedures involved for matchday.

Sports Coaching workshop

Sports coaching is a popular career path for many. Coaches work with toddlers to the elderly, and within grassroots to elite sport.

In this 1-hour workshop students gain an overview of the coaching department of the professional sports club the event is hosted at.

Sports Science workshop

Behind every great player is a whole team of scientists supporting them to achieve their best. Sport science pushes the limits of technology, fitness and nutrition, and health and wellbeing to ensure that athletes are always able to perform to their highest potential.

In this 1-hour workshop students gain an overview of the sports science department of the professional sports club the event is hosted at.  They hear about how psychology, physiology, performance analysis and biomechanics help the players to compete at the highest level.

Sports Media workshop

We all know the immense power of social media and mainstream news reporting, particularly when it comes to sport. We have seen a huge shift in terms of how much professional clubs and even athletes themselves invest in social media and brand, and how they always need to work closely with sport media.

In this final workshop students see the importance of social media and how the host club use different platforms to support their commercial department.
