Leading providers of education through sport, SCL have teamed up with Leeds United Football Club ahead of the 2019/20 academic year as the two organisations strive to create pathways for the next generation.

The exciting new five-year partnership underlines SCL’s ambitious plans to expand across the country and bolsters a presence in the north, having recently joined forces with the Yorkshire County Cricket College.

Delivering the club’s education programme for 16-18-year-olds, SCL’s dedicated tutors, curriculum managers, quality assessors and operations support will help youngsters gain academic qualifications alongside their enthusiasm for football.

Making significant strides on the field, Leeds are an ambitious club off the field too as they use the power of sport to educate, motivate, inspire and support people throughout the local community.

The Elland Road club has an illustrious history, having reached the semi-finals of the 2000/01 UEFA Champions League as well as winning three English league titles, an FA Cup and a League Cup.
Angus Kinnear, CEO at Leeds United Football Club, said: “We are really pleased about the exciting progress being made within the Leeds United Sports College, with active hubs currently located in Leeds, Sheffield, Barnsley, Derbyshire and Alvechurch – and we are delighted to now welcome SCL as the official education partner.

“We’re always keen to grow and develop new partnerships and SCL are clearly experts in the field of delivering education through sport, so this seems like a perfect fit and we look forward to seeing the relationship develop over the next five years.”

SCL Chief Executive Lewis Field believes the new partnership with Leeds is an exciting moment for the dynamic education provider.

“I’m delighted that we have partnered with Leeds United, a club that is steeped in history and tradition as well as being well-renowned for the incredible work that they do in the community,” he said.

“Leeds is a city united by top class sport and this partnership represents a significant development for SCL as we look to grow our positive impact on young people across the country.

“Within the last month we have announced a series of new partnerships, coupled with the extension of a number of existing ones and this is testament to the hard work of everyone connected with SCL.

“I’m really looking forward to seeing the partnership grow and I’m proud that we have partnered with such an iconic football club.”
