Are you passionate about helping young people access meaningful careers and opportunities through sport, apprenticeships, and community-based work?

Coach Core Foundation is looking for a Workforce, Skills & Apprenticeship Lead to help grow and strengthen our work across the North West of England and North Wales. This is an exciting opportunity to join a national award-winning charity that supports under-represented young people into careers through inclusive sports apprenticeships.

Over the past decade, Coach Core has supported more than 1,100 apprentices, partnered with 250+ employers, and helped young people deliver over 1 million coaching sessions reaching more than 13 million participants across the UK.

About the Role

This role will lead and develop Coach Core’s programmes across the North West of England and North Wales, building relationships with employers, partners, community organisations, and young people to create life-changing apprenticeship opportunities.

You’ll work with employers, referral partners, training providers, and local stakeholders to:

  • Support more young people into employment and education
  • Develop inclusive apprenticeship opportunities
  • Build strong local partnerships and networks
  • Support apprentices and employers throughout their journey
  • Help shape local workforce and skills conversations
  • Champion opportunities within sport, physical activity, and beyond

The role will support programmes across areas including Greater Manchester, Liverpool, Chester, North Lancashire, and Wrexham.

We know great candidates come from many different backgrounds

At Coach Core, we believe diverse experiences, perspectives, and backgrounds make organisations stronger.

You may already work in apprenticeships, youth employment, education, sport, community development, coaching, or relationship management. Equally, your experience may come from grassroots organisations, lived experience, volunteering, supporting your local community, or other sectors entirely.

We are particularly interested in hearing from people who understand the challenges some young people face when accessing education, employment, and opportunities — whether through professional experience, personal experience, or both.

Even if you don’t meet every requirement listed in the job pack, we would still encourage you to apply if you feel passionate about the role and believe you could make a positive impact.

What We’re Looking For

We’re looking for someone who:

  • Builds strong relationships and connects well with people
  • Is passionate about creating opportunities for young people
  • Can manage different projects, partnerships, and priorities
  • Feels confident communicating with a range of people and organisations
  • Wants to help shape a more inclusive sport and physical activity sector

You do not need to have worked in sport previously to apply.
