Coach Core Background
Coach Core’s vision is to drive social mobility through apprenticeships and sport, so that every young person can reach their true potential and inspire those around them. Since our launch in 2012, we have worked with over 150 of the biggest sports providers, youth clubs and charities in the country, supporting over 500 young people. As a result of our ongoing expansion, we are now launching a brand new programme in Sussex.
About Coach Core
Coach Core Sussex will be one of 17 programmes across the UK. In each Coach Core location, employers and other partners work together to provide a unique and exciting range of events and opportunities for all young people.
Successful applicants will be based full time with one employer (for between 15-18 months), but will also be able to access a range of additional qualifications and events not seen on any other apprenticeship programme. Employers are specifically chosen based on their passion and willingness to support young people. Position are currently available with the following employers:

Sussex Clubs for Young People (SCYP) is a leading provider and infrastructure support of vibrant, inclusive, universal, and empowering youth clubs and activities across East and West Sussex, Brighton, and Hove. Supporting a membership of over 130 youth clubs and organisations and directly delivering over 40 youth activities a week with our own team of youth workers and volunteers we have an impact directly and indirectly on the lives of over 10,000 young people every week across Sussex.
Our workforce of over 25 youth and community workers plus volunteers engage and involve young people in a wide range of activities and spaces that benefit their local community. With a strong focus on health and wellbeing we create safe spaces where young people belong and can enjoy sharing, learning, and taking part in community-led activities. We are a catalyst for change, supporting activities that will improve the well-being, self-esteem, and resilience of young people in their community providing a conduit to the organisations that can help communities achieve their goals or additional targeted services for specific needs.
Horsham Sports Services are looking for an enthusiastic and hard working young adult keen to start a career in the sports coaching industry.
The role will involve supporting qualified and experienced coaches in various sports and also undertaking some of the administrative tasks that underpin delivery operations. A flexible sporting outlook will be helpful, with work likely to cover multiple sports, although with time we can look to build on the postholder’s particular strengths and interests
Weekly working hours will be agreed on a negotiated basis, although flexibility is normally considered an advantage in the sports coaching field
The role requires a well organised approach and good time management. The postholder will need to be motivated to work independently in certain situations and, more typically, when working as part of a team.
Communication skills, including the use of various online tools, will be important in delivering activities to a range of different audiences and in coordinating with team colleagues
Whilst team support on transport will be offered where possible the ability to get to different session venues on an independent basis will be advantageous.
