Up to £21,815 per annum (40 hours a weeks pro rata plus an 8% bonus following a qualifying period)

GLL is looking for a Service Centre Supervisor based at the Greenwich Centre, located within the new Greenwich Square development centre. This is a multipurpose facility incorporating both leisure and library facilities so you’ll need to split your hours to cover both areas.

The Service Centre Supervisor will supervise all the Service Centre Advisors in our state-of-the-art library and the leisure / gym reception and sales areas. Customer service is at the heart of this role and you’ll be a vital support to the Assistant Service Centre Manager, to ensure a high level of excellent customer service is maintained across the facility and targets are met. You’ll help deal with general information and library service enquiries in person, in writing, by telephone and email. As well as adhering to procedures for the control, loan and exchange of stock between libraries in the borough and with outside libraries and other organisations, you will assist in with the stock maintenance and presentation. Ensuring both in house and national initiatives are delivered locally, you’ll assist with the planning of events and activities in the library and local community for adults, children and young people.

Good IT, literacy, numerical and communication skills are vital for this role – combined with the ability to quickly get up to speed on our services and systems. You’ll have with experience of finding information, cash handling and ideally working with membership, sales and booking systems, as well as a can-do attitude. Thriving in a team and learning new skills, you’ll confidently deal with customers with tact and sensitivity too. A strong people manager, you’ll motive and inspire the team to achieve targets and key performance indicators.
