Established in 2013, StepUp Sports Coaching is experiencing a period of substantial growth resulting in the need to recruit a Primary School Sports Coach. As a company we have established a number of brands including StepUp Holiday Camps, Berkshire Youth Athletics Club, Little Olympians, The Den, and Berkshire Strength Academy; if successful you will have the opportunity to work across all areas of the company including our primary school PE, PPA, and after-school club delivery.

Successful candidates should be able to drive and have access to a vehicle, you will need a minimum of a Level 2 coaching qualification and/or equivalent teaching qualification, and an up-to-date Enhanced DBS certificate. Additionally the successful candidate will need (or be willing to obtain), Child Protection and Paediatric First Aid certificates, and have experience working with children aged 4 – 11 years old.

Role and Responsibilities

  • Plan, prepare, and deliver engaging, fun, and progressive activities to children aged 4 – 11 years old that focus on participation, development, and enjoyment.
  • Monitor and track pupil progress, review and adapt your programme of sessions accordingly.
  • Take on a pastoral role with children who need additional help and support.
  • Show the required energy, enthusiasm, and professionalism required for the role, acting as an ambassador for StepUp Sports Coaching and behaving as a suitable role model for children.
  • Take full responsibility for all children in your care, ensuring everyone remains safe and on task throughout your sessions.
  • Deliver outstanding group management skills to ensure appropriate behaviour, focus, and engagement from all children whilst delivering your activities.
  • Demonstrate excellent customer service awareness and adapt accordingly when dealing with differing stakeholders including children, parents, and school staff.
  • Ensure all company policies and procedures are adhered to, including health and safety, and safeguarding procedures.
  • At all times behave in a manner that reflects the expectations of StepUp Sports Coaching.
  • Be punctual and professional.

Essential Requirements:

  • A minimum of one Level 2 NGB sports qualification and/or equivalent teaching qualification
  • Experience in delivering sports/activity sessions or teaching groups of children between the ages of 4 and 11 years old in a school environment
  • Up to date Enhanced DBS Certificate
  • Paediatric First Aid and Child Protection Certificates (or willing to obtain these support)
  • Full driving licence and access to a car
  • A confident and strong personality with a desire to make a difference

Role Details

Job Type: Permanent

Hours: Part-time 5 – 25 hours per week; full-time 25+ hours per week
