Job Title: Performance Sport Manager

Remuneration: £34,804 – £40,322 per annum
Location: Singleton Park Campus, Swansea University, Swansea, Wales. U.K.

Swansea University has a ‘sport for all’ ethos that runs through our current 2020-23 Sport Swansea: Active University Strategy, which operates across three core pillars:

  • Inspire – High Performance
  • Aspire – Recreational / Competitive
  • Engage – Introductory

This role will specifically focus on the Inspire pillar of the strategy which aims to deliver industry leading performance and high-performance programmes and activities. They will lead on the strategic development and expansion of the Swansea University Inspire programme and will ensure that by the end of the strategic period (2023/24):

  • All Performance Clubs have National / Premier League status
  • 100% – win ration in Welsh Varsity for high-performance sports
  • 60 student athletes representing internationally
  • 60 Dual Career / TASS athletes
  • 40% high performance scholarship applications come from international students

The person:

Qualification: Degree level qualification or equivalent experience relevant to the role.


  • Proven track record in delivering performance and high-performance sport programmes and activities.
  • Experience of developing and managing, creative and innovative performance and high-performance programmes that align to strategic objectives.
  • Proven evidence of line management and experience of building an operational staff team.

Knowledge and Skills:

  • Experience of implementing change in an organisational setting.
  • Strong inter-personal skills, with the ability to develop effective relationships with all levels of staff and partners.
  • Demonstrable evidence of creating a culture that delivers successful outcomes through people, developing and challenging teams to succeed and take pride in delivering professional services and solutions.
