Up to £43,472 per annum (40 hours a week pro rata including an 8% bonus)
GLL, the UK’s largest leisure operator and charitable social enterprise, is looking for a National Sport Project Manager based at the iconic Copper Box Arena in Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park in Stratford, East London. This prestigious role works within GLL’s Sports and Aquatics Team which helps to bring in 45 million visits per year to our nationwide sport and leisure facilities – which deliver £398 million in social value and support Sports and Swimming Pool based products worth £90 million in income to the business – from which, the surplus is reinvested back into our community projects, facilities and people. The National Sport Project Manager will manage and develop sports programmes and products for GLL’s sport and leisure facilities across the UK.
As the National Sport Project Manager, you’ll want to share your passion for sport and activity with everyone and this role will give you the opportunity to influence sport at a national level, ensuring greater participation, more effective use of facilities and creating sustainable pathways for the future. This role is incredibly varied; one day you could be meeting with a National Governing Body to capture support or influence strategy and the next you could be delivering training to frontline staff on a new programme that you’ve developed. This role will give you the opportunity to work at a high level and give you exposure to some of the most influential names in UK sport and active leisure. With a team of Project Officers and regional leads to support you and a team of senior colleagues to offer leadership and guidance, this is an exciting time to join.
You’ll ideally have a background in managing and delivering sports programmes and projects in a public leisure environment. You’ll understand how to influence decisions and challenge the barriers to participation. Working with a variety of internal and external stakeholders, your communication skills will be second to none and naturally, working at this level, you’ll need excellent analytical, report-writing and IT / MSOffice skills.
In return, we offer a range of benefits that you’d expect from the UK’s largest leisure provider:
- Pension schemes
- Childcare vouchers
- Ride to work scheme
- Discounted membership at our leisure centres
- The opportunity to join the GLL Society and have a say in how we’re run plus associated social events
- Career pathways
- Ongoing training and development to help you to be the best
If you’d like to play a part in the future of UK sport and physical activity, apply now.
All pay rates are subject to skills, experience, qualifications, age and location.
To be shortlisted for the role, internal applicants will need to demonstrate their commitment to GLL by becoming a Society member where eligible.
