The British Horseracing Authority (BHA) is the governing and regulatory body for British Horseracing.  We regulate British horseracing, the UK’s second most popular sport and a global industry employing more than 85,000 people directly and indirectly.  We are concerned with the overall health, development and growth of the sport, with the welfare of our horses and people a top priority.  Our vision is simple: to build a brighter future for our sport, our horses and our people.

We are looking for two highly efficient and self-motivated individuals to undertake the role of Licensing Assistant in our Licensing Team.  The Team are responsible for the licensing, permitting and registration of participants, which is crucial to the safety and integrity of the sport.

With excellent attention to detail and a meticulous approach, you will be part of the team that is responsible for the efficient processing of applications for licences and permits in accordance with the established criteria and procedures.  You must have initiative and be able to solve problems or draw conclusions from information, in order to determine applications and monitor participants’ compliance with licensing requirements and wider functions of the BHA on an on-going basis.

Liaising with other teams and stakeholders, you will also provide support and guidance on licensing matters to ensure continued and effective regulation and be able to consider where improvements and efficiencies to processes can be made.

You will be a naturally personable, reliable, confident and helpful individual who can multitask and prioritise a high volume of tasks, including those of an administrative nature, with the minimum of supervision.  Applicants should have proven evidence of verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills that can be adjusted to suit the situation, and be able to maintain a high level of discretion and diplomacy, even under pressure.

This is a challenging role, and the successful candidates will have experience of working in a highly confidential environment.  A good understanding of horseracing or a keen empathy and association with the aims and objectives of the BHA is required.  Other qualities required are excellent IT skills, an enthusiastic team player, energy and a measured approach.

As the needs of the business change this role will change accordingly, therefore this document should be viewed as guidelines which are subject to change.  We welcome enquiries from everyone and value diversity in our workforce.

If you feel you have the relevant skills and experience, please apply by completing our application form on the following Link:  Application Form. (Please quote Ref:201808)

The closing date for applications will be Tuesday 21 August 2018.
