The Role   An exciting new opportunity has arisen for a Lead U16s Coach to join our Academy Department at our Landore Training Ground.

The Club is seeking to recruit a self-motivated, committed and experienced individual as part of the club’s player development programme.

As a member of the Youth Development coaching staff this person will be required to communicate at all levels and report accordingly as part of the club’s processes.  Experience of working in a similar role within a Category 1 or 2 Academy is required for this post.  You would ideally have knowledge of the FA and Premier League Rules and Regulations with regards to Academies.

You will also need to be flexible as this role will require working evenings and weekends.

Key Responsibilities •         Provide a high standard of coaching to a respective age group, educating them in line with the Swansea City Academy philosophy and methodology as outlined in the Academy Performance Plan

•         To ensure that all Academy players adhere to the Swansea City Academy Values and show a high level of respect and discipline.

•         To adhere to the Coaches Code of Conduct.

•         To assist players to set individual short- and long-term goals to create Individual Action Plans for all players

•         To maintain all coaching and games program records on the PMA for each session throughout the season.

•         To complete player progress reports on the PMA

•         To develop and maintain a professional relationship with the parents of youngsters in the programme.

•         Complete CPD (Continuous Professional Development) to maintain coaching qualifications.

•         To work with Head of Coaching in the completion of a personal Coach Development Plan in line with the Swansea City   Coach Competency Framework

•         To maintain FA/FAW Licensed Coaches Club membership criteria

•         To identify players available each weekend for matches and communicate any additional player requirements to the Lead Phase Coach at the earliest opportunity.

•         To attend coach in-service days as instructed by Academy Director/Head of Academy Coaching.

•         To support the development of young players in a healthy lifestyle, diet, drug awareness and education.

•         To take responsibility for the care and maintenance of all age group training equipment and playing kit.

•         To attend additional training nights as instructed by the Academy Director/Head of Academy Coaching.

•         To plan, prepare and deliver the 6-week Individual Player Review Meetings, supported by the Academy Multi-disciplinary team, setting new targets for the players across the 4 Corners.

•         To assess trialists at both training and games and feedback to the Lead Phase Coach / Head of Academy Recruitment.

•         To assist with sport science input where required at training sessions.

•         To attend tournaments and trips when requested by the club.

Person Specification
Essential ·         UEFA ‘A’ License Coaching Certificate

·         FA Learning Safeguarding Children Certificate

·         FA Emergency Aid in Football Certificate

·         Excellent IT skills

·         A good competence of communication and interpersonal skills both written and oral

·         Have a flexible attitude to work

·         Possess the ability to work on their own and within a team

·         Has the ability to remain polite and courteous in difficult meetings

·         Can demonstrate good planning, preparation and good management skills

·         Is competent to work at a level to meet stringent deadlines

·         Be versatile enough to adapt to different and changing situations

·         Possess the drive and motivation to set high standards and achieve company objectives

·         Have a personable approach with a strong work ethic

·         Ability to plan, deliver, develop and monitor football coaching sessions

·         Ability to effectively manage player, parent and staff relationships

·         Ability to liaise with footballers, coaches, management and other football related individuals in a professional manner

·         Enthusiastic and passionate about football and youth development

·         Pro-active forward-thinking coach

Desirable ·         FA Advanced Youth Award or working towards

·         Previous experience of working with young players in an elite environment

·         Previous experience of working within a professional Academy

·         Have a full driving licence
