Boccia England is a registered charity and the National Governing Body (NGB) for boccia in England.  We are responsible for all aspects of the sport in England from beginner to expert, providing for all levels of participation and are dedicated to improving the physical and emotional well-being of children and adults with disabilities through boccia.

We are now recruiting a full-time, permanent Head of Talent to join our small staff team.  Reporting to the CEO, this role will be responsible for the successful implementation of a revised England pathway aligned to the Team GB programme that provides an athlete-centred approach that identifies players with potential talent and supports our athletes on their talent pathway journey. The athlete journey can be a linear progress from area/regional assessment into one of 5 regional academies, progressing to the England Performance Group (EPG) then transition to the UK Boccia programme.  Athletes might enter or leave the process at any stage.

As Head of Talent, your key duties will be:

  • Build a successful and aligned talent development programme
  • Increase the number of, and quality of, coaches involved in the talent development programme in England
  • Improve the athlete ‘voice’ and welfare support within the talent development programme
  • Increase the capacity and capability of identifying talent through an improved talent ID and selection process
  • Create a clear and transparent pathway linked to Team GB/ UK Boccia
  • Create an environment where individuals with talent can prosper, thrive, and acquire the required skills and experiences to deliver their potential.

We are looking for an individual with knowledge of talent development who has:

  • Knowledge of disability sport;
  • Understanding of Talent development in a high performing sport
  • Knowledge of the requirements/ demands of being a talented athlete
  • An inspirational leader with proven experience of developing talented teams and delivering sustained success
  • A proven ability to provide strategic direction and develop talent
  • An experienced coach with a good understanding of coaching practice, sports science and medicine, international competition, and talent pathways
  • Excellent communication skills;
  • Good organisational and time management skills;
