Head of Learning – Trafford
Responsible to Director
Hours – Part time & flexible
Salary – £16-18/hour
Our Mission: About Sport Works
Sport Works has an excellent opportunity for a highly motivated and experienced Teacher, Tutor or Youth Worker to develop and manage our sport, art and craft learning sessions for young people with additional needs.
It is an exciting time to join Sport Works as we have recently been awarded two large contracts by Trafford Council to support and educate Young People with Additional Needs whilst also providing critical respite for their parents/carers. This will involve leading a team of staff to run engaging, fun and educational sessions for these young people from Trafford.
The Head of Learning will be key to our improvement and growth in the coming years and throughout all of our Manchester and Cheshire contracts.
Why the role exists
Following a large contract award, we are now entering an exciting and critical stage of our growth.
The Head of Learning will oversee, plan and deliver the Sport Works sessions under one of these contracts to Key Stage 3 & 4 students. This will involve staff management, running of parent steering groups, planning content and education around the additional needs of the young people and ensuring our health and safety standards are maintained throughout.
These sessions will run on Sundays during term time and on certain weekdays during the school/college holidays. As part of the planning of the sessions there is a requirement to co-ordinate the delivery of Sports Leaders Awards, Arts Awards and AQA Qualifications. Experience within this field would be useful but not essential.
The role is tasked with achieving the following outcomes;
- To ensure the development of physical, emotional health and wellbeing of young people with additional needs
- To increase opportunities of young people with additional needs to learn new skills and try new activities
- To developing and/or maintain friendship groups in the allocation of sessions
- To provide young people with additional needs many or the life skills required as they approach adulthood.
