GLL, the UK’s largest provider of public leisure and cultural services is looking for two Community Sports Officers to help us increase participation in sport for communities in Hammersmith and Fulham, West London – in turn, building better social cohesion and improving health and wellbeing.

Community is at the heart of everything we do and here at GLL, one of our key aims is to make sport and fitness available and accessible to the communities in which we operate. In partnership with the London Borough of Hammersmith & Fulham, we aim to deliver accessible leisure facilities, excellent customer care and affordable memberships to enable local people to enjoy active, healthy lifestyles. That’s where you come in. We have a diverse borough, so you’ll be doing everything from working with local sports clubs, youth organisations and schools to get more young people into sport (and hopefully capable enough to represent Hammersmith & Fulham at the Youth Games!), supporting community sport development plans, in particular those related to our tennis development programme and Play Football initiative.

Ideally, you should have a degree in sports development or a sport-related subject and be able to demonstrate your experience of working in a field such as coaching and teaching. Although working as part of a wider team, you will be expected to manage yourself and your own workload and will be self-sufficient. You’ll be comfortable dealing with stakeholders at all levels and adept at giving presentations, coordinating and leading meetings with local user groups and ensuring actions are followed up on. A creative thinker, you’ll thrive on devising new initiatives to work with the community to foster their participation in sport and exercise.
