Main Purpose of Role:

The Community Manager is a critical role in the organisation and will lead on the daily operations and evaluation of the Port Vale Foundation for both grant-funded and income generating activities. The post holder will direct the Programmes and Project Manage whilst supporting all other senior staff to ensure effective delivery of Foundation business to the highest standards across all the Foundations delivery themes.

The Foundation and Community Manager will work closely with the Head of Community in providing strategic direction for the organisation and to drive a proactive approach to the continued growth, development and sustainability of the charity in all its delivery.

The Manager will also work with partner organisations (local, regional and national) to identify new opportunities for Sport under the Foundations banner.

Responsibilities and Accountability

  • Provide direct line management and inspirational leadership for Foundation programme managers and delivery staff, leading to an empowered and motivated workforce.
  • Work with key stakeholders locally, nationally and internationally ensuring strong and effective relationships, whilst identifying new partnership opportunities to the increase the Foundation’s work and visibility.
  • Support with the development of the Port Vale Foundation’s strategic and business plans, linking staff objectives and supervision to help meet organisational priorities
  • Identify and generate grant-funding, partnership and commercial opportunities to support new projects and initiatives to help the Foundation achieve its business and strategic objectives.
  • Lead the commitment to quality assurance ensuring partner, stakeholder and beneficiary experience is of the highest quality and expectations are being met and exceeded.
  • Take an operational lead for critical business functions such as HR, health and safety, safeguarding, and equality and diversity ensuring compliance with Port Vale Foundation policies, legislation and best practice.
  • Assist the Head of Community with increasing the scope of the Foundation’s work through identifying and obtaining external grant funding, and leading on project implementation and monitoring and evaluation requirements.
  • Support the Head of Foundation and Programmes Managers with measuring the impact of our work, alongside the monitoring and evaluation of grant-funded and commercial activities

Staff Management and Training

  • Ensure objectives and Key Performance Indicators are aligned with the Foundation’s business plan and annual service plans with core and funded projects.
  • Provide direct line management and inspirational leadership for Foundation programme managers and delivery staff, leading to an empowered and motivated workforce.
  • Lead a coordinated programme of regular departmental staff meetings, ensuring project planning and delivery is aligned with the Port Vale Foundation strategic and business plans
  • To be committed to continuous professional development relevant to the post and personal training needs supporting future career advancement.

Marketing and Promotion

  • Promote all aspects of Port Vale Foundation.
  • Work closely and effectively with the programme managers to maximise the opportunity to cross-sell activities across the Foundation.
  • Attend or host relevant forums and meetings where appropriate, to increase awareness of the wider work of the Foundation and club.
  • Attend local, regional and National conferences when required relevant to the Foundation.

Monitoring, Evaluation and Financial Management

  • Ensuring financial targets are met and issues with underperformance are addressed through pro-active action planning.
  • Support the Head of Community with governance and best practice compliance including the Premier League capability code of practice, Foundation trustee reporting and Charity Commission requirements.
  • Oversee the completion of monitoring and evaluation reports for all grant funded projects.
  • Maintaining financial records in line with grant funding requirements.
  • Support the Head of Community and programme managers with compiling and monitoring annual operational and departmental budgets, whilst supporting future financial planning
  • Ensure there is a comprehensive quality assurance process in place.
  • Provide regular activity / departmental reports.
