Do you want to make a difference in getting more people to take up cycling? We are looking for a committed and target-driven individual to build strong relationships with schools and businesses, encouraging them to take up our cycle training services.

About Outspoken:

Outspoken Training teaches life skills and creates more confident and more able cyclists through interactive and engaging cycle training. We run courses and initiatives throughout the country, but our inspiration comes from where we started – in Cambridge, the UK’s city of cycling. We have a dedicated team who make it their mission to show others how much fun can be had on a bike.

Position: Business Development Officer

Location: Cambridge, Cambridgeshire

Job Type: Full-time

Hours: 37.5 hours per week during term time

Salary: £22,000 – £25,000 per annum

About the role:

We are looking for a dynamic person to be part of our growing team of committed staff helping to get more people onto their bikes.

The main areas of the role are to:

  • Encourage school, businesses and individuals to take up free, subsidised and privately funded cycle training and other related services. This will mostly be by phone and email to existing contacts who have already received our services in the past.
  • Help develop and ensure we have positive and relevant marketing materials.
  • Manage our communications outlets, including writing regular newsletter articles, social media posts and working with local media.

About you:

We are looking for positive and results-driven candidates with a track record in sales in the commercial or education sectors or relevant experience engaging with schools. You will be a self-starter with the ability to build positive relationships, especially on the phone.

You will possess excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, along with the ability to identify new business opportunities by building productive relationships. High-level attention to detail and organisational skills are also essential for success in this role.

We’re a small business, so the job is varied. You’ll need to be flexible as well as having a can-do and positive attitude. We’re ideally looking for candidates who share our ethos and have a genuine interest in encouraging cycling as a normal, everyday means of transport.

You may have experience of the following: Business Development Officer, Business Development Executive, Sales Executive, Account Manager, New Business Development, Education, Lead Generation, Sales and Marketing, School’s Liaison Officer, School Development Officer, etc.
