We are looking for a dedicated person to join our team across both Get Set 4 Tennis and Matchpro Tennis. Coaching will take place on site at schools and nurseries, so a car is essential to the role.

Coaches will be taken on a Self Employed basis.

Some of the hours will be assisting with SEND children, so an interest in this area is vital. This can be supported with additional courses if required.

Coaching will also involve working with children aged 3 upwards within their nursery or school setting Monday to Friday with the occasional weekend activity.
We are a growing club so hours are being added all the time. We currently have around 10 hours per week but this is growing daily with the lockdown easing and should reach a minimum of 20 hours by summer. Ideally we would like someone with the capacity to take on more work, but would consider someone who wanted to combine the hours with another role elsewhere.

Overview of the Venue

Get Set 4 Tennis is an inclusive community tennis club with a 2 court base in Maple Cross, Herts. We have also just invested in portable floodlights. We pride ourselves on providing accessible, affordable lessons to the whole community. We were regional winners of the LTA Disability Award for 2020. We run programmes for all ages and standards and have strong community links. In addition to this we work in many local SEND schools and primary schools providing inclusive lessons to children with additional needs. We currently teach around 50 children and adults per week at our club base and around 300 children in our schools programme.

Matchpro Tennis is a provider of tennis to schools and nurseries. We teach around 500 children per week.

For both programmes all equipment and clothing is provided along with regular coaches meetings to help improve the coaches’ personal standards and become part of the team.

Person Specification

The ideal candidate for this role will be professional in all areas of their coaching and passionate about inclusive tennis. They must be enthusiastic, patient and hardworking and have impeccable time keeping. Schools and children like to see the same face week in week out so the coach must be committed to the role for a minimum of 1 school year.
Coaches must be confident to work with all ages and abilities and have experience in coaching SEND children.

Coaches must be able to drive in order to reach locations in time.
GS4 Tennis and Matchpro Tennis coaches work as a team to support each other, so the candidate must have the same outlook on tennis as the rest of the team and be willing to learn and grow as coach.

We are not a “normal” tennis club and coaches will need to be dedicated to their children and schools.

We will provide all the support needed to fulfil the role to a high standard including financial support for relevant coaching courses.
It is important that we find the right fit for our team.
