Student Case Study – Mackenzie Cadman

The reason I chose this degree course was due to the fact that I have always been involved in football one way or another and I have also been interested in business from a young age. I created my own business when I was 16 – I identified a niche in the market when looking at the quality of other online eCommerce websites.

My idea was to create a new business where I could sell sporting products on a fashionable website. This helped to attract buyers due to the fact that it wasn’t cluttered and was easily accessible. Following on from this I have a keen interest in international football due to living in Spain for three years as a child. Being involved within the Malaga CF youth setup as a player fuelled that also. So combining football with business and adding the international side of things too, the BA (Hons) International Football Business programme was the only course for me.

Why did you choose UCFB?

I only applied for UCFB because from the first and only Open Day I attended, I knew that UCFB was for me. At UCFB the courses are so diverse and the contacts you make are life changing. From day one I understood that networking at UCFB would give me an amazing advantage after I graduate. Because of this, the opportunities you can experience through UCFB are second to none if you apply yourself properly.

What career are you looking to move into once you graduate and why?

After I graduate I very much see myself working within the football industry. Hopefully following on from the work I did with UEFA at the 2016 Champions League final in Milan, I’d like to secure a job with them. I will also keep my options and I’m open to work at a football club whether it be in the UK or abroad. I believe I have many key skills that can benefit a football club at this moment in time but with the help of UCFB I see myself having even more skills and attributes after I graduate.

Student Case Study – Thomas Freismuth

Since an early age I had a genuine passion for football. My biggest goal was to become a professional football player, but I always wanted to work in the football industry and with the opportunity to study at UCFB, I can continue following my passion. I have seen what’s happening on the pitch through my time at a football academy in Austria, but after I stopped playing I became interested in what happens off the pitch. I’m very interested in the global football environment and what’s happening in different countries. Therefore, my course, BA (Hons) International Football Business, was the ideal programme to study.
