Student Case Study – Saad Wadia
Why did you choose this degree course?
I have been involved in sport since I was at school and have played at competitive level, travelling across the UK and ultimately was lucky enough to experience playing football at some of the best stadiums in the country. I had to give that up for a career and worked in sales and marketing for a year.
In 2011 I was at the Charlton Athletic training ground selling raffle tickets to raise money for the British Paralympics Blind Football team and was taken back with what I saw on the training ground. All my emotions came flooding back as I had sacrificed sport for a year. That’s when I decided I wanted to learn about the sport business and combine the two. I was able to bring my on the field and off the field experience together.
Why did you choose this university?
I chose UCFB as I understood the unique opportunity to study sport business at the home of English football. I also understood, with it being new at Wembley there will be some organisational challenges as UCFB looked to establish itself. I have found UCFB to be unique, as it has allowed me to get closer to the people within the industry through its guest speaker sessions. The guest speakers have shared their industry experience, which has helped me choose a clear pathway for myself in the industry.

- The campus – Wembley Stadium, the home of football
Three things you love about university life
- I enjoy learning
- Networking within the sport industry
- Meeting like-minded sport business enthusiasts
What career are you looking to move into once you graduate and why?
Once I graduate, I will be working within the global sport digital marketing industry. I have built strong contacts within the industry which will help me bridge the gap between England and the emerging markets such as the Middle East and India. I have always had the desire to add value to the sport industry as sport helped me get through the dark times I had when I was growing up.
I want to succeed in my sport business so I can then use that to help inspire others of the same philosophy to help better their own lives.
